End: Jul 11, 2018 03:00 PM America/Eastern
Description: This is a refresher course on making sure drinking water operators are performing all necessary duties in a timely manner. We will be coving daily, weekly, monthly, and annual responsibilities that all water operators should be performing.
Proper documentation will be a focus. Because many operators understand what they have to do but not why, the ‘why behind the what’ will be emphasized. Discussions on lead and copper, Stage 2 DBP, RTCR and other regulations will be discussed.
Asset Management will also be discussed as a basic discussion on how to assess what utilities have and what they will need. Encouraging a 5-year plan (at the very least) will be detailed. GIS/GPS will be discussed also as a tool for Asset Management.
A portion of the EPA ‘Sustainable Utility Management’ Guide (2013) will be used during the presentation. Portions of the EPA ‘Preventive Maintenance Card File for Small Public Water Systems Using Ground Water’ will be used with emphasis on conversion to GIS technology.
